Dr Mawunyo Cudjoe Emmanuel Ati is a Specialist Gynaecologist Obstetrician in the Durban area. After obtaining his medical degree at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) in the Eastern Cape in 2009, Dr Ati began his medical career as a medical intern in 2010 at Helen Joseph and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital Complex in Johannesburg. He was a hard-working young doctor for which he was awarded intern of the year.
During his internship Dr Ati also completed a Neonatal Resuscitation Course at Coronation Hospital.
Dr Ati worked as a medical officer during his community service year at East Griqualand and Usher Memorial Hospital in Kokstad. During this time Dr Ati was exposed to various medical emergencies, including Obstetrics and Gynaecological emergencies, which only strengthened his passion for this field.
Dr Ati, apart from his passion for clinical practice, he also played an active role in union structures of the South African Medical Association (SAMA). In 2012 he was made the provincial coordinator for Junior Doctors Association of South Africa (JUDASA) and then Secretary General of JUDASA in 2013.
In 2014 Dr Ati decided to pursue his passion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology and joined the Registrar programme for specialist training at King Edward VIII Teaching Hospital.
Having completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2018, Dr Ati was awarded with the Fellowship in College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Africa (FCOG(SA)) and graduated with a Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Nelson R Mandela Medical school at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2018.

Dr Emmanuel Ati is a Specialist Gynaecologist Obstetrician in the Durban area. In 2014 Dr Ati decided to pursue his passion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology and joined the Registrar programme for specialist training at King Edward VIII Teaching Hospital. Having completed his Registrarship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in 2018 Dr Ati finished his specialist training with the Fellowship in College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Africa (FCOG(SA)) and graduated with a Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2018.
Since then Dr Ati has been working in the public sector at RK Khans Regional Hospital but has decided to open his private practice as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Phoenix at the Life Mount Edgcombe Hospital, Durban.
Dr Ati has special interest in laparoscopic or keyhole surgery and in the management of gynaecological conditions such as the removal of ovarian cysts, diagnosing and managing endometriosis, for sterilization, for laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomies and much more.

Dr Ati has began working as a specialist in the public Hospital, RK Khans Regional Hospital where he supervised interns, medical officers, and specialists in training.
