Once you’re sexually active or reach age 15, you should visit one regularly. Call a gynecologist if you have any concerns or questions about your sexuality or reproductive health, or experience pain in your pelvic region

Call Dr Ati’s rooms to book an appointment as soon as your Suspect you may be pregnant or pregnancy is confirmed. (sometime between 10 and 16 weeks).

A gynaecologist provides services for managing conditions involving the female reproductive system (uterus, the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, and other organs) as well as women’s health. They also provide services for the pregnant woman but only limited to the first or second trimester. They do not do deliveries.

Obstetricians on the other hand takes care of the pregnant woman including delivery until 6 weeks post-delivery.

A doctor can decide to practice as both or choose to practice one aspect only.

Dr Ati practices both specialities

In the public sector, you will usually need a referral before seeing a gynaecologists in a regional or tertiary hospital.
In the private sector, it is dependent on each private specialist and their preference.
Dr Ati has an open-door principle. You do not need a referral to see him unless if your medical aid option requires you to have a GP referral to grant you authorisation to see the specialist.
Please contact your medical aid directly to find out if you need a specialist authorisation before seeing the gynaecologist. If in doubt you can call Dr Ati’s receptionist, and they will guid you.

It’s up to you when to first visit an obstetrics office. Most women schedule the first visit about 8 weeks after the first day of their last periods, but others may come in as soon as they realize they are pregnant.

The consultation fee at our practice varies depending on the specific procedure and services required. For an accurate consultation fee or quote, we recommend contacting our rooms directly.
